Grounding spirit, honouring soul - for a life truly lived.
Jung wrote of what he called “the spiritual problem of modern man” nearly a century ago - the sense that something essential goes missing when a life is organised entirely around achievement, distraction and the pursuit of more. He believed that even a small thing touched by real meaning mattered more than any amount of things that had none. That observation feels, if anything, sharper now than when he made it. We live inside a culture built for constant connection, constant comparison, endless output - one with remarkably little tolerance for stillness, or for questions that don't resolve quickly. The pull toward fitting in can be so strong that we learn to mistrust our own individuality, just to belong.
“The achievement of psychological maturity is an individual task - and so is increasingly difficult today when man's individuality is threatened by widespread conformity.” - Carl Jung, The Undiscovered Self
If you feel overwhelmed, or quietly out of step with the pace being asked of you, that isn't necessarily something wrong with you. It may be a genuinely sane response to conditions that were never built with a whole person in mind.
What Is Spiritually-Informed Therapy?
In practice, spiritually-informed therapy means psychotherapy first and foremost - spiritual only where it's genuinely useful to you, never required. Whatever you believe, or don't, what matters here is you.
Becoming who you actually are, not who you think you should be
Engaging more fully with your actual life, not retreating from it
Being met as a real person, not a diagnosis
Seeing what's difficult not as something broken, but as something trying to emerge
Finding the sacred in ordinary, everyday life, not only in grand or mystical moments
Moving from real insight into actually living differently
Common Issues This Work Can Help With
A sense of disconnection, or searching for meaning and purpose
Existential questions, life transitions, or a personal crisis
Anxiety, depression, or burnout beneath the surface
Feeling things more deeply, or more sensitively, than those around you
Grief, fear of death, or a sense of something missing
An interest in bringing spiritual practice into therapy, if that's part of your life
Where a practice has quietly become a place to hide, that is its own subject, taken up in spiritual bypassing, and the swing between spirit and ground in all spirit, no ground. My work is trauma-aware, grounded, and sensitive to altered or expanded states of consciousness - for anyone who resonates with that, and equally welcoming of anyone who doesn't yet have language for what they're experiencing.
My Approach to Spiritually-Informed Therapy
Psychosynthesis, the framework I trained in at the Psychosynthesis Trust, treats spirit as a vital aspect of the psyche - inseparable from the self, not a separate add-on to it. Jung spoke of the collective unconscious and the archetypal forces that move through all of us; dreams, imagery, metaphor, imagination, creativity and spontaneity are all genuinely useful territory in this work, whether or not you'd ever call yourself spiritual. My practice blends:
Forty years of putting Buddhist humanism into action sits behind this. Long enough that it is not a technique I bring into the room, but part of how I listen.
Transpersonal psychotherapy - honouring your soul's deeper movements, where relevant to you
Mindful presence - grounded in forty years of putting Buddhist humanism into action
Psychosynthesis - working with subpersonalities, meaning, and Self
Somatic awareness - reconnecting you to your body as a genuine resource
Conscious Kindness - bringing a compassionate approach to your relationship with yourself
This is a space where your questions, your crisis, or simply your curiosity are treated with depth and care - whatever language you'd use to describe them.
This Work May Be Right for You If:
You're going through a dark night of the soul or a period of inner disintegration
You've outgrown old patterns but don't yet feel at home in the new
You want to bring your spiritual practice into your therapy, or vice versa
You feel emotions and energies more deeply than others around you
You long to feel truly at peace, not just functionally “better”
You've been hurt, shamed, or excluded within a religious or spiritual family, community, or group, and want a space to heal from that
Session Options
In person - Farringdon (most weekdays), or Streatham (Tuesdays only, 9am - 3pm)
Online - ideal for sensitive or spiritually-focused clients
Sessions available weekdays, evenings and by arrangement
I work with adults of all genders, orientations, and spiritual backgrounds, including committed atheists and agnostics, and those exploring Buddhism, mindfulness, Christianity, earth-based traditions, or open inquiry.
Taking the First Step
If you're wondering whether to take the first step, know this: it could be the greatest step you take this year, toward your own becoming, and toward living fully again. This is slow work, not always easy work, but genuinely rewarding - slow work towards accepting yourself, and towards hearing what you actually want, however faint that is right now. Ultimately, this is about living with real aliveness, and learning, fully, to become who you already are. Book a free 15-minute consultation, or dive straight into an initial session if you're ready - either way, let's explore where you are, and where you're being called.
What to Expect
Format: Individual 50-minute sessions, weekly Where: In person in Farringdon, London (recommended where possible), Streatham (Tuesdays, 9am - 3pm), or online for those based outside London Starting out: A free 15-minute consultation is available first, if you'd like to ask questions before committing to a full session Fees: £70 per session
