Terms of use

Last updated: 29 August 2026

These terms cover your use of alexgoldingtherapy.com. They are deliberately short.

They are not the agreement we make when we begin working together. That is a separate document - one I go through with you in person at the start of ongoing therapy, because a therapeutic agreement is something to talk about, not something to click past.

If you are in crisis

Nothing on this website is emergency support, and I cannot respond quickly to urgent messages - I am in sessions for much of the day.

If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If you need to talk to someone tonight, the Samaritans are on 116 123, free, at any hour. For urgent medical advice, NHS 111. Your GP can also refer you to local crisis services.

Please use them. They are staffed for exactly this and I am not.

What this website is

A description of my practice and a place to read and think. The articles here are reflections on psychotherapy, psychosynthesis and the questions people bring to therapy. They are written to be useful, but they are general writing, not advice for your situation.

Reading this site, emailing me, or booking a first appointment does not by itself create a therapeutic relationship. That begins when we have met, agreed to work together, and both signed the client agreement.

Nothing here is a substitute for medical advice. If you have a health concern, or you are taking medication, speak to your GP or the clinician who prescribed it. Please do not change or stop medication on the strength of something you read on the internet, including here.

How I practise

  • I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which sets the standards of practice, ethics and conduct I am accountable to.
  • I take my work to regular clinical supervision, as BACP membership requires. Supervision protects the quality and safety of your therapy, and my supervisor is bound by the same confidentiality I am.
  • I hold professional indemnity insurance.

Booking and payment

  • A booking is confirmed once payment is received. Until then the time is held, not reserved.
  • Fees are agreed with you before we start and confirmed in writing when you book.
  • Sessions cancelled or moved with less than 72 hours’ notice are charged in full. This is not a penalty - the hour is set aside for you and the room is booked and paid for whether or not it is used. Where the reason is genuinely exceptional, talk to me.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe (card) and Wise (bank transfer). Their own terms apply to the payment itself.

For ongoing work, the client agreement takes precedence over anything on this page.

Online sessions

Online sessions take place on Zoom. Please join from somewhere private where you will not be interrupted, using a connection you trust. Sessions are never recorded, by me or by you, unless we have explicitly agreed otherwise in advance and in writing.

I cannot be responsible for the quality of your internet connection or for the security of the device or network you choose to use.

Your information

How I handle your data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

The writing on this site

The words and images here are mine, and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to read them, share a link, or quote a short passage with attribution and a link back. Please do not reproduce whole articles, or use anything here to train an automated system, without asking me first.

Links to other sites

Where I link to another organisation - a professional body, a directory, a source I have drawn on - it is because I think it is worth reading. I do not control those sites and I am not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Availability and accuracy

I keep this site accurate and current as best I can, but I do not guarantee it will always be available or entirely free of errors. I may update, change or remove content without notice.

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss arising from your use of this website. Nothing here limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited - and nothing here affects my professional obligations to you as a client, which are governed by the BACP Ethical Framework and our client agreement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

Changes

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

If you have a concern about my practice, please raise it with me first. If that does not resolve it, BACP has a professional conduct process.
