EFFECTIVE THERAPY

It is usually uncertainty or pain that brings someone to therapy - the point where the familiar ways of coping stop working and the way ahead is not clear. Therapy is time set aside for exactly that. Not to be fixed, and not to be told what to do, but to understand what is happening and to find what can change.

ABOUT ALEX

Hello, I’m Alex

A qualified psychosynthesis counsellor London based (Farringdon and Streatham) & online.

I work in an integrative, relational way - offering a compassionate, reflective and confidential space where you can slow down, be heard, and meet yourself more honestly, with kindness.

My aim is to support you not just in managing symptoms - but in finding deeper meaning, authenticity and direction, towards change - becoming more who you are. Together we can explore patterns of what’s painful, unresolved or uncertain in your life, developing greater awareness and self-acceptance. You can experience more wholeness, clarity and a renewed inner strength, towards realising desires for serenity and change.

My Approach as a Psychosynthesis Therapist

I draw on a humanistic and transpersonal perspective, combining psychotherapeutic depth with spiritual insight. My work includes:

  • Psychosynthesis therapy - an integrative method focused on soul, subpersonalities and inner potential. Integrative means I tailor the therapeutic approach, to most suit to your individual concerns and needs
  • Mindfulness and Buddhist psychology - cultivating presence, compassion, depth and self-awareness
  • Somatic and creative approaches - helping you reconnect with your body, your unique expression and your insight
  • Relational depth - building real, honest connection as the basis for change

“We are both Being and Becoming in the same breath” - Diana Whitmore

My Journey as a Psychosynthesis Counsellor

Drawn to psychology, spirituality and philosophy since a young age, I come from a diverse cultural background and have practised SGI Buddhism for forty years. A creative professional within the arts, I am passionate about music, with lived experience of many sides of the arts industry as a self-employed producer. I work too with creatives who wish to overcome doubts, mine their true voice, and begin to thrive with greater satisfaction and stability in their lives.

Training & Experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Development - Psychosynthesis Counselling, a Level 7, 120-credit award under the auspices of the Psychosynthesis Trust. The course is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am a fully qualified, registered member of the BACP, working ethically and professionally within its framework. Alongside my therapy practice, I have extensive experience in peacework, mentoring and facilitating youth, men’s and community groups. Bringing the compassionate light of humanistic philosophy, mindfulness insight and interpersonal skills into counselling practice, I work creatively to support each individual’s journey of self-discovery.

Beginning and What To Expect

HOW THERAPY WORKS

The free 15-minute call

Free, informal and confidential, and it lasts fifteen minutes. There is no commitment on either side, just a chance to explore the potential of working together, have basic questions answered and share any concerns you may have.

The call is an option, not a step. If you would rather just try a session, book one directly and make a start.

The first session

Fifty minutes, in person or online, a relaxed conversation. Understanding what has brought you to therapy: the underlying feelings, overwhelming thoughts or patterns causing distress. Beginning to tell your story, your hopes or fears, at your own pace and in confidence. By the end, hopefully, a sense of connection. If this is your first time, what to expect.

Type of therapy

Psychosynthesis is a broad, open and hopeful system of therapy, where true self exists beyond the conflicts, dilemmas and behaviours that sap the joy out of life. I incorporate humanistic and integrative psychology, working in creative and soulful ways to suit your needs best, within a safe ethical framework. More on psychosynthesis.

How many sessions

How long therapy takes depends on each person: background, needs, budget, consistency, willingness. I can work short term or long term, with an initial commitment of six sessions normally advised. That is not something to judge in advance. We would get a clearer sense once we have met.

YOUR FEELINGS MATTER

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
- Carl Rogers

When we can accept our mistakes as part of who we are, without condemnation, we free ourselves to grow and transform.

Guilt or shame often arises when we fail to live in alignment with our true selves, but by practicing self-compassion and self-forgiveness, we begin to bridge the gap between who we are and who we are striving to become. Therapy helps us to 'trust the totality' of ourselves.
